Huge horsepower, new horsepower and proper horsepower were all put to good use for this year’s prom night at a Wisbech academy. Everything from a tractor to a stock car and vintage bus were used to provide transport for the Year 11 and Year 13 pupils at Thomas Clarkson Academy who marked the end of the exam season in style.

A Newcastle schoolgirl has been chosen to represent England in the World Karate Championships. Eleven-year-old Molly Cochrane, a Year 6 pupil at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Benwell, will be travelling to Dundee on July 11 to take part in the event as a member of the England Shorai Erito Karate Association (SEKA) Team. A West Norfolk school hockey team is fundraising for the community with a charity run at the weekend to add to the £10,000 the group has raised over the years. And the Marshland High School team will be very hard to miss as they will all be wearing pink when they join the Pink Ladies Charity Fun Run in King’s Lynn on Saturday (1), a 5k event hosted by the town’s Park Run. Young artists from across West Norfolk will come together to showcase their talents at an open exhibition, which will feature a wealth of different media, from painting and sculpture to photography and digital pieces. Entitled Vision, the exhibition at St Nicholas' Chapel will be open to the public from Tuesday 4th July to Thursday 6th July and is being organised by the West Norfolk Academies Trust. Teenager Bella Featherstone-Dance has become a gold medallist twice over after wowing judges at a national trampolining event. The 17-year-old was competing in both Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) disciplines at the National League for Trampolining competition, which took place in Burgess Hill, near Brighton. It was buon viaggio for children at Our Lady & St Anne’s Catholic Primary School when they headed to Rome for a four-day trip, which included spending time at an Italian school. Twenty-seven Year 6 pupils travelled to Italy’s capital accompanied by Headteacher Sam Henzell and five other teachers from the school, which is a member of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust. Staff and children at The Vale Primary in Epsom are celebrating after the school retained its ‘Good’ Ofsted rating and won praise for its “caring” ethos. The Ofsted inspector who visited The Vale, a member of the GLF Schools Multi-Academy Trust, last month described it as “a friendly and supportive school”, reporting that children feel welcome and safe there. An inspirational teacher has won a national award for her outstanding commitment to changing the lives of the children they work with every day. Amy Stimpson, Assistant Headteacher Inclusion and SENDCO at Meridian High, a member of GLF Schools, was selected from thousands of nominations to win a Pearson National Teaching Silver Award for Excellence in Special Needs Education. |
