 A Norfolk home care company has two real GEMs among its team as two worthy winners of a company award have been revealed.
The March GEM Awards attracted many nominations for team members at award-winning family run Extra Hands, but two worthy winners stood out for Going the Extra Mile.

 Environmental awareness has been blooming in King’s Lynn as secondary school students get creative to highlight the critical issue of plastic pollution.
Springwood High School, a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, has joined forces with Blackfield Creatives to play a part in the ‘Meadow of Hope’ community-based art project.  A West Norfolk student has been celebrating after representing both her Hunstanton school and the county at the Anglian Schools Cross Country Championships in Northampton.
 Students have set off on the trip of a lifetime, leaving King’s Lynn for a 17-day adventure in Thailand.
The Year 12 students from Springwood High School, which is a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, are taking part in a Thailand Global Citizenship Programme, which will see them teach children in a Thai school about climate change, as well as spend time caring for rescued elephants at a sanctuary.  An award-winning agricultural business hosted the monarch’s representative in Norfolk when the county’s Lord-Lieutenant arrived to present a prestigious award.
Lady Philippa Dannatt was accompanied by Deputy Lieutenant Melinda Raker and both were welcomed to Agrimech, on the borders of Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, by co-founders Belinda and Darren Smith who launched the business 14 years ago and have watched it grow and expand into international markets.  A Croydon school with a ‘new and ambitious’ curriculum is praised by Ofsted inspectors for its ethos of ‘present the best version of yourself.’
Students at Meridian High School, New Addington, ‘present their learning with pride’ noted the inspectors during a recent visit.  The Emerald Isle came to Newcastle when one primary school celebrated St Patrick’s Day, along with the culture and heritage of its Irish headteacher.
 Young football fans at a West Norfolk school were thrilled when they got to meet their sporting heroes.
The children at West Lynn Primary were visited by five players from King’s Lynn Town Football Club, The Linnets, and three members of the club’s management team.  Pupils at a Fenham primary school were ‘reddy’ to celebrate this year’s Red Nose Day – and raise money for charity.
The children at English Martyrs’ arrived at school dressed in red to fundraise for Comic Relief, with each making a cash donation to wear non-uniform.  What links William Shakespeare, John Boyne, Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, Jacqueline Wilson and David Walliams?
