A West Norfolk school has taken a novel approach to helping students increase their wellbeing over the summer break.
The Year 7 students at St Clement’s High School have been given skipping ropes and the challenge of learning a new skill while increasing fitness and wellbeing levels over the holidays. A home care visitor this month marks five years working as a carer after years working in nursery and childcare. Sharon Crater, 51, from Lingwood, near Norwich, joined the award-winning Extra Hands after observing the impact home care visitors had on the life of an elderly neighbour. A big-hearted primary school pupil has helped dry her mother’s tears by organising fundraising to help children born ‘under not so lucky stars.’ The pupil at St Robert’s First School, Morpeth, a member of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust, is running more than 300 miles along with her brother and sister to raise money for Save the Children after she noticed a tear in her mother’s eye. The end of term was a time of mixed emotions for staff and pupils at a Northumberland school as it said farewell to its headteacher of 20 years. Samantha Leslie has seen many changes over the course of her career and during her time at St Aidan’s, Ashington, she saw it successfully navigate a move to become a primary school. After weeks of waiting, the Year 11 students of Smithdon High School, a member of West Norfolk Academies Trust, were able to enjoy a fantastic evening of food and dancing at the annual prom held at Knights Hill Hotel on Tuesday evening. |
