Young artists from across West Norfolk will come together to showcase their talents at an open exhibition, which will feature a wealth of different media, from painting and sculpture to photography and digital pieces.

Entitled Vision, the exhibition at St Nicholas' Chapel will be open to the public from Tuesday 4th July to Thursday 6th July and is being organised by the West Norfolk Academies Trust.

The exhibition will bring together work from GCSE and A Level students at the Trust’s four high schools – Marshland in West Walton, Smithdon in Hunstanton, Springwood in King’s Lynn and St Clement’s in Terrington St Clement.

Lee Eveson, who is Head of Art and Photography at Springwood, said: “We chose Vision as our students are our vision for the future, and thought it was a strong title for the show.”

As many as 80 pieces of art will be on display at the exhibition, which will also have a private evening viewing on Monday 3rd July ahead of the official opening the following day.

“The exhibition will feature work from Years 13,12 and 11 from Springwood, and Year 11 work from Smithdon High School, St Clement’s High School and Marshland High School,” continued Mr Eveson.

“Work will include drawing, painting, sculpture, printing, mixed media, photography and digital, and is from GCSE Art/Photography and Craft and Design GCSE, and A Level Art and Photography.”

Among the art on show will be a pencil drawing by Springwood talent Izzy Wright, who won the prestigious Sworders Art Prize last year, and a digital composite photograph by fellow Springwood student Micah Soloman, who will be going on to study VFX at Escape Studios.

Other Springwood artists that will feature include Kiera Hewitt, who will exhibit a painting and a piece of digital art, and photographer Kian Pakpourtabrizi, who will be studying film and media at university.

The event has become a regular on the Trust's calendar, and has been held at St Nicholas' for the last five years.

“We have been running this event for the past nine years,” added Mr Eveson. “It has evolved into a Trust event for the past three years and St Nick’s has been its home for the past five years. We can’t thank them enough for all of their help and support.

“This is our highlight of the year. It not only gives the students a chance to curate their exhibition and understand what goes into running it – it joins the schools in a joint venture which deepens bonds between us.”
