Budding scientists at a West Norfolk primary enjoyed a wealth of fun experiments and investigations when their school staged a Science Enrichment Day – with help from a former Dragons’ Den winner.

Engineering a future which could range from building submersibles to hospital scanners saw a group of students building bridges with a Chatteris company. The group from Thomas Clarkson Academy, Wisbech, were able to work on designs of their own when they visited Stainless Metalcraft which has been in business for 159 years and employs more than 100 people. Compassionate children at a Berkshire school have raised hundreds of pounds to help those affected by the earthquake disaster in Turkey and Syria. The children at Windmill Primary School were moved by the images and news reports coming out of the disaster and wanted to do something to help the Red Cross in its aid efforts for the thousands needing help in both countries. It will be bon voyage for a group of Newcastle primary school children as they embark on a five-day trip to France ahead of half term.
The 29 Year 5 and 6 pupils from St Catherine’s Catholic Primary School, a member of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust, will travel by coach to Paris, where they will spend four nights at a chateau just outside the French capital. Aureus School students got a taste of university life when they visited Trinity College in Oxford. The group of 14 students, who are all in Years 8 and 9, took part in the trip through the Brilliant Club’s Scholars Programme – an initiative linking state schools with universities to introduce state students to life in higher education. A North Shields secondary school has welcomed four Ukrainian students to its community. St Thomas More Catholic High School, a member of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust, has been joined by Maks Denyshchych, Ksenia Zozulia, Valeriia Komorova and Nazar Popovych, all of whom have fled the war in their home country and are currently being hosted by families in the Newcastle area. Musical youngsters from Frogmore Junior School in Camberley showcased their talents at London’s O2 Arena when they sang as part of the world’s largest school choir. A group of 20 Year 4, 5 and 6 children from the school, a member of the GLF multi-academy trust, joined over 8,000 others for the Young Voices 2023 concert which took place in front of an audience of thousands. A scary play which descends into farce and is all in French has helped Wisbech students to get to grips with another language. La Maison Hantée is aimed at teenagers who are learning French and is billed as a scary production which ends-up being really funny as the actors break out of character when things go wrong. |
