Businesses from around King’s Lynn battled it out to be crowned the best three-legged egg and spoon racers in town on Thursday 24 March. The annual event was the second Vancouver Quarter Business Challenge of 2016 and saw a team from Wilko take the crown after seeing off the challenge from radio station KLFM in the grand final in St Dominic’s Square.
Ward Gethin Archer, last year’s champions, and Ring Associates came third and fourth respectively with Primark taking the wooden spoon. “A huge thanks to the five business teams for coming out in the wet and cold to take on this egg and spoon business challenge,” said Vancouver Quarter marketing and events assistant David Blackmore. “It wasn’t best weather for egg and spoon racing but they all made the most of it.” He added: “Well done to team Wilko for winning this challenge. Commiserations to Ashleigh and Charles from KLFM who came so close to winning but had to settle for second place.” The business challenges started three years ago as a way for companies across the town to get out and meet other firms. This event followed pancake racing in February, which was won by Ward Gethin Archer. The next challenge will be beat the goalie in June, which will be followed by a mystery challenge in September. The team with the most points after these four challenges will be crowned Vancouver Quarter Business Challenge 2016 champions and a donation will be made to a charity of the winner’s choice.
