Students at a West Norfolk school have been keeping up with their fitness activities by taking part in a range of challenges  - including truck pulling and scoring the winning runs in an England cricket match.
Marshland High School pupils have been taking pictures and videos of themselves keeping active as part of a daily challenge they have been set by PE teacher Dominic Stannard. And they have been very competitive with their entries

“It is important that they keep fitness levels up and improve both physical and mental health. I have had a huge number of students sending me photos of what they have been up to and there is a wide range of activities they have been taking part in.

“It is brilliant to see so many of our students staying physically active and once school opens again we will produce a display of the photos,” he said.

Mr Stannard has set a challenge each week - with each entry gaining a house point and bonus points for the top four in each year group. The first batch, of favourite sporting moments, included Usain Bolt winning 100m gold, Tom Daley diving, Andy Murray playing tennis and a lot of goals from various football matches.

There were also videos made of students taking part in a World’s Strongest Man contest, reliving the moment England won a cricket test match against Australia last summer and one student emulating the amazing Olga Korbut Olympic floor routine.

Mr Stannard also sent pupils a link to the popular Joe Wicks Workouts that have been screened on TV every morning during lockdown.

“They get the students’ heart rates up and they will be hot and sweaty which is important and while they can’t take part in normal physical activities and clubs, they are fun and lots of students and staff are taking part,” said Mr Stannard.

And their challenges have also included a Bake-Off style contest with more house points on offer for those taking part.
