![]() Throughout the 1990s, watching Gladiators every Saturday night became a way of life for millions of viewers, and the show also changed the lives of those who took part, such as Gladiator Vogue, aka Suzanne Cox. She met her now-husband Mark through the show, when he competed as a member of the public, and she revealed to the new GladPod, celebrating all things Gladiator-related, how the show had affected their parenting.
“When I got pregnant, we both thought ‘what if they want to sit inside and read, what if we have a nerdy geeky child who’s not like us?” We thought we wouldn’t know what to do with it - pass it to my brother, here you are!”, she joked. Now the kids are old enough to watch what mum used to do, though, they seem to take plenty of interest – if anything, maybe too much. “When they first started YouTubing, all they could find was me pulling this girl off Hang Tough game, where she fell and cracked two vertebrae. I kept saying ‘why are you watching that’ but they would show it to their friends saying ‘look that’s my mum!'” The GladPod is presented by former Gladiator Jet, aka Diane Youdale, and journalist David Blackmore. Each episode lifts the lid on what went on around the show, and features many of its biggest names talking about their time on Gladiators.
