Performance against key headline measures was up on 2018, with particularly strong progress seen in English where 80 per cent of the cohort achieved at least a grade 4 and 64 per cent grade 5.
Headteacher, Jeremy Garner, said: “These outcomes do not happen by accident and are a testament to the dedication and hard-work of the students as well as the excellent support and guidance provided by staff, governors and parents. I am pleased that the cohort as a whole achieved so well against a background of significant curriculum reform and change.” The fact that the vast majority of de Stafford students leave us with such positive outcomes is a reflection of the strong academic progress they have made in their time here. However, this year group contributed so much to the school community and we are just as proud of the way in which they have developed into highly aspirational and confident young adults, comfortable of their place in society and the positive contribution they can make to it. The percentage of top grades awarded to de Stafford students continues to be a strength of the school. Head Girl, Leila Treacher, achieved grades 7 -9 in all 11 of her entries, including four grade 9s (awarded to only a very small percentage of students nationally in each subject area). “I’m so shocked but so happy. I’m going onto college to do chemistry and I got a 9 in that. I’m so surprised,” she said. Katie Spurgin achieved 7-9 across ten different subjects, including three top grades, while Luke Moore and Paige Cash achieved a similar feat in eight subjects. Whilst rightly celebrating the fantastic achievements of the high attainers, the school was delighted with the progress made by all students from their different academic starting points on entry to the school in Year 7. Any parent interested in looking around the school is encouraged to attend the school’s annual Open Evening on Thursday 12 September or book a tour to see the school in everyday action by contacting the school reception.
