Students are celebrating after receiving impressive grades in their A Levels, despite the trials and tribulations of the past two years.

The high achievers from Oxted School included Skye Wheelan, who achieved three A*s and is going to read French and Spanish at Edinburgh University, and Lois Clark, who received three A*s and is heading to the University of Bath to study Sports and Exercise Science.

“I think I was in shock,” said Lois, “as I didn’t expect to get three A*s. I’m looking forward to going deeper into my subject at Bath, and am considering doing a Masters longer term.”

“I really enjoyed Sixth Form and the teachers were really supportive and there to help.”

Matthew Dixon received four A*s and will take up a place at Bristol University to read Maths and Statistics, while fellow student Daniel Mir, also with four A*s, will join him at Bristol to study Maths.

“I’m really happy and relieved,” said Daniel, “and knowing I’ve confirmed my place at Bristol feels good. Sixth Form has been great with lots of support from the teachers. I’d especially like to say a big thank you to Mr Rycraft, my physics teacher, who really helped me.”

Roman, Dhani, Miles, Bethany, Sam, Joanna, Laurence, Russell and Ethan also all achieved A*s and As for their results.

Russell Bond, Principal at Oxted School, a member of The Howard Partnership Trust, said: “This year group has been impacted by Covid like no other. They had their Year 11 cut short and lost out on so many rites of passage such as Prom. Importantly they missed out on sitting their GCSE exams and the opportunity to show the world how amazing they are. Thankfully this summer they were able to put this right.”

“I have said before that the resilience and determination they showed during this summer’s exams was truly inspirational. We are confident that this year group are ready to go on from Oxted and thrive in the next chapters in their lives. We will miss them, but look forward to hearing about their amazing achievements in the future.”
