The retailing giant has this week (Apr 20) launched a canned version of the popular Citra IPA which is being brewed exclusively for the company by Peterborough-based Oakham Ales.
The 500ml can contains the 4.9%ABV ale which is liveried under the Cambridgeshire banner of Single Variety American Hop Citra IPA. "A light, malty beer full of the distinctive flavour of Citra hops, with powerful grapefruit, lychee and gooseberry aromas," says the can which also carries the 'Made with American Hops' flag. The range is a natural progression from the bottled Citra which Oakham Ales has been producing for Marks and Spencer since 2013. The popular bottled version is still available to customers, as is the double-hopped version at 5.9% which Oakham Ales also brews exclusively for the retailer in 330ml bottles. "We are delighted to be working with Marks and Spencer to offer all our customers their favourite way of enjoying a taste of Citra with its unique, award-winning flavours. We have worked hard to ensure the exclusive brew has all the keynotes of our popular brand, but is also offering a little bit more for the discerning drinker to savour," said managing director Adrian Posnett. The new cans are available from stores nationwide. Michael Wallis, M&S beer buyer, said: "We are delighted to be offering Citra IPA now in 500ml can, as well as 500ml bottle. The Citra IPA by Oakham Ales has proved it is a popular choice with our customers, so whatever the preference we have it covered at Marks & Spencer."
