Leaders unite at Didcot school

Leaders from the world of education will be arriving at Aureus school next month for an event to showcase innovative ideas and build partnerships.

The newly-opened Didcot school offers yoga and art therapy to its pupils alongside the curriculum and head teacher Hannah Wilson (pictured above)  is an advocate of holistic teaching with a wellbeing programme and values-based education.

The Innovate My School Live Roadshow will be at Aureus on November 15 for a breakfast and networking event which will focus on how schools can do more with less and continue to innovate despite squeezed budgets.

School leaders from across the south east will be heading to the venue  to take part and discover how schools can best enhance teaching and learning.

"As an Innovate My School ambassador, I am delighted to be able to showcase new initiatives and opportunities for schools across Oxfordshire and the South East," said Ms Wilson.

 "It is important, in the current climate, that schools take opportunities to network and build partnerships."

Innovate My School organises more than 130 events and was founded in 2010 as a community of educators sharing ideas, resources via a range of platforms, from social media to breakfast meetings.

Educational innovators will be joining the Aureus event, which is free for school leaders. Members from The Bett Show, which presents educational technology, will be on hand to give a session, along with the chief executive of Innovate My School, Michael Forshaw.

"It is going to be a real privilege to run an event with Aureus School. Hannah Wilson has put together something of a 'dream team' line-up of teachers and school leaders and we are looking forward to seeing how this new school is already making wave in UK education," he said.

"Pupils can go from hi-tech learning to mindful movement and mindfulness classes on a regular basis. Needless to say, after hearing all about their inventive methods we are thrilled to be co-hosting this gathering," he added.

Aureus, a member of the multi-academy GLF Trust, is a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) school which opened its doors to students for the first time in September.
