Throughout the 1990s, Gladiators was one of Britain’s most popular Saturday night prime time entertainment shows, and its contestants were household names and faces. But as one of them, Gladiator Vogue, revealed to the GladPod podcast, a new show lifting the lid on all things Gladiator-themed, many of us could have known her by a completely different name! “They were going to call me Storm,” said Vogue, aka Suzanne Cox, “but before we filmed in the UK, we went to Australia and there was a Storm so they had to change the name and they called me Vogue.
“I think it was because I’d done some sports modelling and they had the theme tune, I think they were in the production office, it (the Madonna song) came on the radio and they thought “that’ll do”.” Presented by former Gladiator Jet, aka Diane Youdale, and journalist David Blackmore, the GladPod goes behind the scenes at the hit tv show and reveals remarkable stories about the contestants, their careers and their lives. To hear more from Vogue about how she met her husband through the show, what her kids think of her career, and how those skimpy costumes stayed on, search and subscribe to the GladPod through your usual podcast suppliers.
