Community invited to create something special for King's Lynn at bunting workshop

The King's Lynn community is being invited to take part in a special workshop on Saturday 5 September to create bunting for the town centre.

The community bunting workshop is being held ahead of the official re-opening of St Nicholas' Chapel on Saturday 12 September - where the bunting will be displayed for the first time. The chapel, one of Lynn's most historic landmarks, has been closed to the public while work on a £2.7 million project to transform the building into a modern community venue has taken place.

Next weekend's workshop will run from 10am to 4pm in the Vancouver Quarter next to Costa Coffee and opposite Wilkinson on New Conduit Street.

Abbie Panks, centre manager, said: “Spaces can be booked for the free 30 minute sessions throughout the day. This will be a family-focused event but I'd really like to encourage everyone with a love of King's Lynn to pop along and help decorate the bunting.

"We hope the bunting will be used at events in King's Lynn and I'm already looking forward to seeing the designs people come up with as well as the finished product being on display at its first event at the St Nicholas' Chapel venue launch."

Holly Isted, learning and participation officer at St Nicholas' Chapel, added: “This a great workshop to mark, not only the re-opening of the chapel, but the spirit of partnership that exists in the town.

"We are so pleased to be working with the Vancouver Quarter, and look forward to decorating the chapel with some truly unique bunting.”
