There were celebrations at an Oxford school this morning when its first ever exam results were collected by Year 11 students. The Aureus school, a member of GLF Schools, first opened its doors in 2017, and those first students have completed their time with an impressive array of grades from their GCSEs. All of the students sitting the triple science exam were awarded Grade 4 or above, and 100 per cent of students who entered two modern language qualifications also achieved Grade 4 or higher.
Ranveer Ramdeehul was delighted with his grades and will now go on to study A Level chemistry, biology and maths at Didcot Sixth Form. “I’m planning to study medicine at university,” he said. “I really like the sciences, and I have had aspirations to be a doctor since I was 11 or 12.” Fellow student Bia Lourenco was also celebrating her results, which will enable her to take the first steps towards her chosen career. “I was really happy when I got my results,” she said, “and shocked because I didn’t think I did as well. I want to do Health and Social Care Level 3 at Oxford College now, as I want to become a social worker.” “We have been delighted to see the Class of 2022 collect their GCSE results today,” said headteacher Julie Hunter. “This group of students were the founding year group at Aureus School and have overcome many obstacles in the past three years due to Covid disruption.” “In 2021/22 during their Year 11, many students had to isolate at least once, losing valuable exam preparation time, and they also experienced staff isolating too,” she continued. “The results they have received today have been earned under exceptional circumstances and they have embodied the school values of courage, ambition and resilience. “We are delighted to see so many students now heading to local sixth form providers such as Didcot 6th, the UTC, Oxford College, Abingdon and Witney College, in addition to some independent schools and performance schools. “We wish them well in their future studies and look forward to welcoming them back as pioneering Aureus Alumni.”
