There were 100 very good reasons to celebrate at a Banbury primary school today when guests arrived for a special event. Pupils and staff gathered with friends and family to mark 100 days since the doors first opened at Longford Park school - and the theme of 100 was carried throughout the celebrations.
Both classes, Badgers and Hedgehogs, have been working hard to complete pictures, words and artwork to explain their favourite things about being at the school which opened in September. They have created the number out of a variety of materials from pasta to Lego and even made a traffic jam of 100 toy cars. The school has also been collecting 100 items for the local food bank to share the celebration with the community. Executive head Julie Hiddleston said the first term of life at Longford Park had been an exciting time for everyone involved, especially the children. There are currently two classes one reception and one nursery and the school, part of the GLF multi-academy Trust, has the potential to cater for more than 300 pupils over the coming years. “It has been a pleasure to have our pupils and our new building. Being involved from the planning stage through to today has reinforced the teams’ view that this is a very special school,” said Ms Hiddleston, who is also the executive head at William Morris School, Bretch Hill. “We have been overwhelmed with positive feedback from parents about the school and the fantastic start to learning and education we are providing their children with.” “Our ethos is that of excellence and our pupils, staff and parents are already so proud of their school. We were delighted to witness their enthusiasm with our guests for the official opening,” said Ms Hiddleston. Pupils at Longford Park Primary are looking forward to their Christmas concert on Thursday, December 14 and a special Christmas lunch and jumper day in aid of Save the Children the following day.
