A fantastic set of results for Oxted students

GCSE students in Surrey have been celebrating ‘a fantastic set of results’, despite the impact of the pandemic on their education.

Russell Bond, Principal at Oxted School that is part of The Howard Partnership Trust, was full of praise for the Class of ’22.

“This year has been impacted by Covid like no other,” he said, “but we could not be more proud of them. Throughout their studies, and especially in their exams, they have shown an amazing amount of resilience and positivity.”

“These attributes have led to a fantastic set of results, with students making more progress than in previous years. This has enabled so many of them to access courses at Key Stage 5 and begin their next stage of education.”

High achievers at the school included Cerys L, with eleven Grade 9s; Charlotte H with ten Grade 9s and one Grade 8; Freya L-C with ten Grade 9s and one Grade 7; Jess Q with nine 9s, an 8 and a 7; Bridie B with seven 9s, four 8s and one 7; and Oscar E with six 9s and four 8s.

“I’m really happy with all my results,” said Jess, who will stay at Oxted to study A Levels. “I took my English Language early, so I was especially pleased that I got a 9 for that. The teachers have been very kind and supportive, and I really want to thank them all.”

“I’m hoping to stay on at school for sixth form to study PE, psychology and history, then I want to go to university – preferably Bath or Loughborough, as they are the best sports universities – and I want to work in the sports industry."

Mr Bond added: “It was amazing to celebrate with the students and to see them collect their results, and we cannot wait to see many of them back in September."
