There were celebrations at a Wisbech academy when students arrived to collect their GCSE results this morning. Thomas Clarkson Academy, a member of the Brooke Weston Trust, was buzzing when the Year 11 teenagers received a fantastic set of exam results which reflected their hard work over the last two years and more.

There was cause for double celebration for a Wisbech student who celebrated passing his driving test and his A Levels on the same morning. Kacper Mrozik (18), took his driving test in King’s Lynn and passed before heading into the Thomas Clarkson Academy to collect his A Level results - which saw him achieve his first choice university in Leicester. A group of A Level students celebrating their results at Thomas Clarkson Academy today will have an ‘amazing impact’ as they head for teacher training. They are among a cohort celebrating at the Wisbech school as results were revealed this morning. A champion boxer gave tips on resilience and discipline when he spoke to Wisbech students at an end-of-term awards night. Jordan Gill, former European and Commonwealth featherweight champion told the Thomas Clarkson Academy pupils that education is important along with following a plan to future success. Huge horsepower, new horsepower and proper horsepower were all put to good use for this year’s prom night at a Wisbech academy. Everything from a tractor to a stock car and vintage bus were used to provide transport for the Year 11 and Year 13 pupils at Thomas Clarkson Academy who marked the end of the exam season in style. Teenager Bella Featherstone-Dance has become a gold medallist twice over after wowing judges at a national trampolining event. The 17-year-old was competing in both Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) disciplines at the National League for Trampolining competition, which took place in Burgess Hill, near Brighton. Two intrepid Wisbech students braved the cold mud to take part in a special 5k run to raise both awareness and funds for a cancer charity close to their hearts. The event was a major milestone for one of them, as this time last year Gaby Maurice was facing a tough fight of her own after being diagnosed with cancer in November 2021. She faced major surgery and a variety of treatments at different hospitals and is now back in the classroom at Thomas Clarkson Academy. A burning ambition to share a sporting passion with others has seen a student at Thomas Clarkson Academy achieve a coaching qualification after winning a regional gold in gymnastics. Children from a Fenham primary school have been helping to create a new maths game app. The Year 4 pupils from English Martyrs’, part of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust, worked with digital production company PROTO to assist in the development of ‘Race to Infinity’ – a digital, maths-based game for primary-aged children. Captain Hook and William Shakespeare joined a Wisbech school for lessons as staff created fantastic costumes to mark World Book Day. More than 50 of the team at the Thomas Clarkson Academy, Wisbech, joined the fun and brought some life to literary characters of all genres. |
