Captain Hook and William Shakespeare joined a Wisbech school for lessons as staff created fantastic costumes to mark World Book Day. More than 50 of the team at the Thomas Clarkson Academy, Wisbech, joined the fun and brought some life to literary characters of all genres.

Engineering a future which could range from building submersibles to hospital scanners saw a group of students building bridges with a Chatteris company. The group from Thomas Clarkson Academy, Wisbech, were able to work on designs of their own when they visited Stainless Metalcraft which has been in business for 159 years and employs more than 100 people. La Maison Hantée is aimed at teenagers who are learning French and is billed as a scary production which ends-up being really funny as the actors break out of character when things go wrong. After two years with no stage shows, drama students in Wisbech have been rehearsing hard for High School Musical which will open later this year. The annual production has been a key part of life at Thomas Clarkson Academy for many years, but the last was in 2019 and the arrival of the pandemic meant there have been no performances since. Students and staff of Thomas Clarkson Academy were able to gather together as a whole school this morning to mark Armistice Day with a special service. It has been three years since everyone was able to join for the event, which was led by Principal Richard Scott. The pandemic meant no service could be held either last year or in 2020. A Fenland student successfully answered the billionth question on a web-based education resource and was presented with a laptop to mark the milestone. Thomas Clarkson Academy, Wisbech, is also set to benefit as William Horspool, in Year 11, also won a school prize alongside his own Asus VivoBook and Beats headphones by correctly answering a science question on EduCake.
