Officially launched with a special event at the Milton Keynes Wetherspoons today, the pub named after the group founder's primary school teacher, Mr Wetherspoon, the tie-in sees Green Devil IPA on the shelves as a featured craft beer in 900 outlets.
"It is great news and we are delighted to have the official Wetherspoon launch at Wetherspoons, it seemed very fitting," said Oakham's managing director Adrian Posnett.
The 6pc beer, in 500ml bottles, has won the title of Champion Cask Ale for two years running at the International Brewing Awards and is one of three craft ales stocked by Wetherspoons. The chain was named after the New Zealand primary school teacher of founder Tim Martin who opened his first pub with that name in North London in 1979.
Oakham Ales, based in Peterborough, sells nationally and internationally via a range of outlets including Waitrose and Tesco.
