There will be a variety of free events for everyone to enjoy this Easter at the Vancouver Quarter in King’s Lynn.
Kicking off the series of family-friendly activities will be a special spring-themed workshop on Thursday, April 6 from 10am to 3pm.
It promises to be messy fun for all the family where children can make butterflies and plant sunflowers to take home. No advance booking is needed, but all youngsters must be accompanied by an adult.
Due to popular demand, the Vancouver Quarter’s Saturday Club will then return on April 8. The Fairyland Trust will be on hand to help children make their own miniature garden with three real wildflowers that they can take home and plant.
Families will also learn the folklore behind these fairy flowers and why it is so important to grow them at home. The workshop sessions will last 45 minutes, which includes a storytelling performance at the start. Booking is essential for this event via the Vancouver Quarter website.
Then on Thursday, April 13 there will be an Easter bonnets and baskets workshop with four sessions at 10am, 11am, 1pm and 2pm. The baskets and bonnets will come in very useful for the Vancouver Quarter’s Easter Egg Trail on Saturday, April 15.
Fifteen giant Easter eggs, each displaying something unique, will be hidden around the town, and all families need to do is find them between 1pm and 5pm, mark them on the map provided and return it to the Vancouver Quarter for the chance to win £250 of shopping vouchers. Anyone who manages to correctly find 10 or more eggs will also receive an Easter treat.
Keeping to the egg theme, businesses in King’s Lynn will be competing in this year’s egg and spoon races on Tuesday, April 11 at 2pm. The three-legged racers will be negotiating a course on St Dominic’s Square, near Iceland and Sainsbury’s, to battle for the honours of top team.
Abbie Panks, Vancouver Quarter centre manager, said the spring-themed and bonnets and baskets workshops as well as the Saturday Club will be held opposite Wilko at 27 New Conduit Street.
She added: “Our workshops last Easter proved very popular, and we had some excellent feedback from parents who brought their children along and we believe this year’s free events will be a big hit with families.”
