Gladiators favourite Jet has spoken about how uncomfortable she felt with fame when she became the most famous face and name associated with one of the biggest entertainment shows of the 1990s.
In an era before social media, people wrote to Jet - aka Diane Youdale, in their thousands, and some of them became lasting friends.
“I really hated being recognised. Fame wasn’t an easy fit for me, it still isn’t really but huge sacks of mail kept coming to my parents’ house,” she told the newly-launched GladPod, a podcast celebrating the hit TV show Gladiators.
“My mum used to help me go through them and I said of there was something where someone had done or made something that was a bit special to put it to one side, and that way I ended up meeting some people who were genuine fans who’ve gone on to become good friends.”
