Pupils and staff at the Caterham School let their imaginations run riot. Super heroes worked alongside Minions, princesses and the Artful Dodger from Oliver Twist as young readers took part in a variety of events on Thursday. (March 2)
Popular characters from children’s literature filled the school, there was even a crocodile from the Peter Pan story to add a bit of wildlife to the proceedings. Pupils took part in a World Book Day parade during the afternoon, helping to celebrate the national event’s 20th anniversary of spreading the joy of reading around the country. “There was a wonderful atmosphere around the school and it was great fun for everyone. It is not every day you bump into Gangsta Granny, an Umpa Lumpa and Harry Potter in the classroom,” said Head Teacher Miss Kellie Brazier. Hillcroft Primary School is a member of the GLF Schools multi-academy trust.
