There were celebrations all round when students at The Beacon Sixth Form, Banstead, received their A level results.
Many students were delighted to achieve the top grades of A and A*, allowing them the option to study at top universities following their success.

A* grades were awarded to Jodie Kelly in English Literature; Luke Brown in mathematics, and Eden Walsh in sociology. Three A grades were achieved by Kristina Georgieva who is off to York to study law and Georgie France who heads to Royal Holloway to study psychology.

Gregory Colquhoun achieved two As and a C and is also off to Royal Holloway to study geography. Phyliss Smith will be studying religion, philosophy and ethics at Kings College London after receiving an A and three B grades.

Keith Batchelor, Headteacher, added: “We are delighted to have shared the successes of our students today after so many years of hard work The Beacon School from the staff and students themselves. We are so pleased to see our students well and to begin the next stages of their education.”

There was a 100 per cent pass rate for BTEC, with 76 per cent of those at Distinction or Merit grade. Distinction grades were awarded to Anna Edwards and Summer Walsh in Health and Social Care.

Katie Pile got a merit in her BTEC ND Media Studies and Cs in art and photography. She's doing an art foundation course and is going to uni in Bristol.

"Even though my results weren't the best I still learned a lot over the last couple of years."

Zoe Strugnell also got a merit in her BTEC ND Media, B in photography and C in Art and Design Textiles. "I'm really happy with the results. I want to explore the photography side of things."

Gary Newton, Head of Sixth Form, said: “As always, we are incredibly proud of all of our students and the work ethic and commitment they have demonstrated to secure the results that they did. We wish them every success for their futures and look forward to hearing how they get on.”

A number of students who have decided not to apply for university, have secured excellent apprenticeships and work placements.
