More than 400 people packed a historic King’s Lynn chapel for a community carol concert with the West Norfolk Academies Trust.
The audience at St Nicholas Chapel was treated to performances by around 200 students from the 11 West Norfolk schools which make up the academy. Among the guests was The Rev Canon Dr Mark Dimond, team rector at the town’s Minster.

Caring young carol singers spread some festive cheer when they entertained the residents at two Hunstanton care homes.
The group from Smithdon High School, which is part of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, were all members of the choir and ranged from Years 8 to 10. Young performers at a West Norfolk school are putting on an evening of festive musical favourites designed to get all the family in the Christmas spirit.
The Marshland High School Christmas Concert takes place on Thursday, December 14 in the main hall at the school, a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, with tickets costing £2 each. There was a festive feel when pupils at Gaywood Primary School swapped their uniforms to support a charitable cause yesterday (Thursday)
The children were taking part in Christmas Jumper Day, Save the Children’s annual fundraising appeal. Budding landscape artists flexed their creative muscle when they visited historic Holkham Hall in Wells-next-the-Sea.
The 25 Year 3 pupils from West Lynn Primary School also saw their science studies come to life on the trip, which was arranged for the group by Holkham Hall’s Learning and Engagement Office, Lucy Gillett. The world’s most famous Gothic family paid a successful visit to West Walton, when Marshland High School staged its annual musical.
The Addams Family Musical took place over three consecutive evening performances, with Morticia, Gomez, Wednesday, Pugsley, Lurch, Uncle Fester et al all putting in an appearance at the school, which is a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust. Budding Jamie Olivers and Nigella Lawsons showcased their culinary talents in the first round of the 2023/24 Rotary Young Chef Competition.
The aspiring cooks at Smithdon High School in Hunstanton took on the challenge of creating a healthy meal for two within a £6 budget – and all against the clock. Smithdon High School is celebrating after Ofsted inspectors awarded a ‘Good’ status across the board following a recent inspection.
The school was praised for its ‘well-crafted,’ ambitious programmes of study and the inspector said pupils: “Value the opportunities to nurture existing talents and develop new ones. This goes beyond the traditional offer of sport.” A West Norfolk pianist with a love for Rachmaninoff and ambitions to become a doctor has given a solo recital at his King’s Lynn school.
