Following on from the recent success of its A Level students, Springwood High School in King's Lynn is celebrating another year of excellent GCSE results. The Year 11 Class of 2023 reported impressive grades all round, with 39 per cent achieving a 5 or higher in English and Maths and 11 per cent gaining a 7 or higher in those subjects – an increase of 5 per cent on 2019’s levels. Overall, 35 per cent of Springwood students were awarded a grade 7 or more in at least one subject, with 10 per cent receiving at least one grade 9.
Among the high fliers at the school, which is a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, were Colby Wood, who achieved seven grade 9s, two grade 8s, two grade 7s and an A grade in Additional Maths GCSE; Piers Gostling-Ireland, who attained five grade 9s, three grade 8s and three grade 7s; Amelie Dockerty with four grade 9s, four grade 8s and three grade 7s; and Rayan Shaikh with five grade 9s, two grade 8s, and a grade 7. Other top performers gaining at least eight grades of 9 to 7 included Jessa Joshy, Camilo Cervantes, Tessa Jaison, Jenson Fox, Charlize Mana-ay, Keira Hawes, Selena Garner, Nancy Harvey, Ashhad Zaqavi, and Josh Parker. “Our students have achieved excellent results this year,” said Roger Livesey, Chair of the Trust and Springwood Local Governing Body. “I congratulate them all on their achievements” Andy Johnson, Headteacher at Springwood, added: “I am so proud of these young people. Following a tough time during the pandemic, they worked hard to achieve their potential.”
