A record number of prestigious university offers have been made by the highly acclaimed Russell Group to students at the Thomas Clarkson Academy, Wisbech.
With universities including King’s College London, Warwick, Durham and Imperial College - the Russell Group is recognised around the world as outstanding research-intensive places of learning, and offers are highly sought after.

Students from the academy look set to be studying everything from Theoretical Physics and Biomedical Engineering to Law and Political Economics at universities including Imperial College, London and the University of Bristol.

“This is a record year for university offers from world-renowned universities, and we are incredibly proud of the fantastic offers our sixth form students are getting this year. It is a testament to their hard work, and also the amazing teachers we have at the academy who help them to see their potential,” said Alison Hornby, Head of Sixth Form.

Many of the year group have received multiple offers, a total of 62, from the Russell Group and are looking forward to taking up their studies later this year.

Principal Richard Scott said: “Our students should be congratulated for their achievements. They will experience life at some of the most renowned universities in the world. Each of them should be incredibly proud of all they have achieved already, and we know they will go on to make the most of the opportunity they have created.

“We want all our students to be inspired and aim for the very top in whatever they choose to do. Having a record number of Russell Group offers this year perfectly illustrates our ethos of transform, challenge and aspire.”

Student Jasleen Kaur has been offered a place at Imperial College, London, to study Biomedical Engineering and says she has always wanted to study a subject which offers the chance of using technology to help the world of medicine.

She came to England and joined the academy in Year 10, and learnt English at the same time as studying for her GCSEs. She received grades including two 9s and four 8s before joining the academy’s sixth form and maintaining her career goal of working in the biomedical field.

Aukse Janusauskaite is aiming to study law at the University of Bristol and it’s a subject she was determined to read when she achieved great results in her GCSEs, including three 9s and three 8s.

Theoretical Physics is on the timetable for Gvido Malinovskis who hopes to join Imperial College London, and Wasola Olawoye is also looking to the capital to study Natural Sciences at King’s College, London.

Sofia Reeves is aiming at University College London, to read Political Economics and Viktorika Trapavicute is hoping to join the University of Durham to read Pscychology. Both Goda Rinkevicute and Sophie Tjurina will read pharmacy, at the University of Manchester and the University of Leicester respectively.
