Children and staff at a Wokingham school welcomed MP Clive Jones to the official opening of its new nursery provision. Guests at the event on Thursday (14) also included Wokingham Borough Mayor Coun Adrian Mather who joined family and friends in marking the occasion.
“I really, really enjoyed being here today and it is a very impressive set-up. It is clear all the children are enjoying their education and this is so important as this will help them learn more,” said Mr Jones Part of Wheatfield Primary School, a member of GLF Schools Multi-Academy Trust, the nursery offers extended day care for children aged from two to four and is based in a refurbished classroom and has extensive outdoor learning spaces, including a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA). Anna Freshwater and Sarah Evans, Co-Headteachers said: “We are thrilled to celebrate the launch of our brand new nursery at Wheatfield, providing for the educational and developmental needs of our youngest children.” “With a focus on providing a nurturing and enriching environment, we are committed to offering high-quality inclusive education and care that fosters a love for learning. We are very proud of this latest nursery project, part of GLF’ s ongoing commitment to provide the very best start for every child in their Trust.” The nursery has been housed in a former classroom which has been completely refurbished thanks to a grant from the Trust. Coun Mather joined Mr Jones and CEO of GLF Julian Drinkall at the opening and official ribbon cutting. “It is a fantastic dual celebration, firstly celebrating the school’s ten year anniversary, as well as the official nursery opening. The increased age provision will hopefully support busy parents. Wheatfield Primary School is driving to become a pillar of the local community,” said Coun Mather. Mr Drinkall said: “At GLF Schools, we recognise the transformative impact that high-quality early education has on children and young people, and I’m delighted that we were able to expand the provision at Wheatfield School. I am certain the nursery will offer invaluable learning and experiences to children and families in Winnersh.”
