![]() There were celebrations this morning when students at Glyn School received their GCSE results, which revealed a record progress score. “We are incredibly proud of all our Year 11 students who have achieved a record progress score for Glyn students,” said head of school Jo Garrod. “Most importantly we are particularly delighted with the exceptional outcomes for our most vulnerable students. These students have undergone a turbulent period whilst studying their GCSE subjects and have achieved a fantastic set of results.”
Some 40 per cent of all exam entries at the school, a member of GLF Schools trust, achieved grades 9-7 while 88 per cent were awarded a 4+ in both English and maths. Top student was Aditya Rahjan with an impressive nine grade 9s. He will continue his education at Glyn, taking A Levels in physics, further maths and computing, with ambitions of studying computing or robotics at university. Also among the school’s high achievers was Nathan West, who attained six Grade 9s, one grade 8 and two grade 6s, and will be staying at Glyn, a member of GLF Schools, to study maths, physics and geography, with a view to reading engineering at university. “It took about half an hour to sink in!” said Nathan of the moment he received his results. “I’m ecstatic – I really didn’t expect to do so well. “All my teachers have been fantastic and have really helped me through. They’ve been incredible.” Other star students included Tom James, Gabriel Claustre and Oliver De Maria, who each attained five grade 9s, two grade 8s and two grade 7s. All three will stay at Glyn, with Tom taking A Levels in physics, maths and chemistry, while Gabriel will study maths, physics and chemistry, and Oliver will study maths, economics and chemistry. “I’m just really happy with my results,” said Tom. “I feel all the hard work I put in really paid off. “It’s been hard over the past two years, but I found I worked well at home in lockdowns, and, in Year 11, the school was great at helping us catch up. “Hopefully I’ll go on to university to study physics.” Mrs Garrod added: “We wish all our students the best for their onward journey.”
