Students at de Stafford are celebrating another excellent set of GCSE results this year. Performance against key headline measures was up on 2019, with particularly strong progress seen in English where 80 per cent of the cohort achieved at least a grade 4 and 64 per cent grade 5. Headteacher, Jeremy Garner, said: “These outcomes do not happen by accident and are a testament to the dedication and hard work of the students as well as the excellent support and guidance provided by staff, governors and parents. I am pleased that the cohort, as a whole, achieved so well against a background of significant curriculum reform and change as well as recognising the way this cohort have coped with the impact that school closures have had on their GCSE journey.”
The fact that the vast majority of de Stafford students leave us with such positive outcomes is a reflection of the strong academic progress they have made in their time here. However, this year group contributed so much to the school community and we are just as proud of the way in which they have developed into highly aspirational and confident young adults, comfortable of their place in society and the positive contribution they can make to it. The percentage of top grades awarded to de Stafford students continues to be a strength of the school. Head Boy, Zach Vellacott, achieved grades 7-9 in all ten of his GCSEs, including six grade 9s. Jessica Gregory and Freya Nash also achieved 7-9 across ten different subjects while several further students achieved a high proportion of these very top grades helping to open up doors for their future studies. While rightly celebrating the fantastic achievements of the high attainers, the school, a member of GLF Schools was delighted with the progress made by all students from their different academic starting points on entry to the school in Year 7. Several students achieved grades well above what might have been expected with Lewis Fayle, Owen Caviglia, Fiona Bint, and Olivia Ball in particular exceeding what were already very challenging targets.
