An Oxfordshire school’s motto of ‘aspire and contribute’ is woven throughout its curriculum and pupils aim to show the school values in daily life, says a recent Ofsted report. Manor Primary School, Didcot, has been rated ‘good’ across all five key areas and its ‘carefully designed and balanced curriculum’ was highlighted for praise along with the high expectations of staff.
“Pupils aim to show the school values, such as ambition, tenacity and respect, in daily school life. They proudly wear the badges pinned to their school ties that show these values. Pupils enjoy the leadership roles they have in the school, such as pupil parliament,” says the report. A member of the GLF Multi-Academy Trust since 2019, the school has 328 pupils aged from four to 11. The quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and management, and early years provision at Manor Primary School were all rated as Good. Jessica Robinson, Headteacher, said: “I am immensely proud of our school community for achieving a 'Good' rating from Ofsted. It reflects the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students, and the support from parents. This success is not just a validation of our efforts, but a testament to the collaborative spirit that defines our school. We will continue to strive for excellence, knowing that every achievement is a stepping stone towards unlocking the full potential of every student in our care.” The school also encourages the talents and interests of its pupils well, with all Year 3 pupils learning the violin. They are also enthusiastic about representing the school in football and netball. “The approach to teaching the core subjects of mathematics and reading is well established. Staff teach phonics well. They provide effective extra instruction for any pupil who needs to catch up. “Teachers read high-quality and diverse texts to their classes to promote a love of reading. Pupils enjoy this,” the inspector noted. The inclusive curriculum sees pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) having support and adapted resources so that they can learn alongside their peers.
