Aureus School Shines on Culture Day with Talent, Food, Football, and Festivities

Aureus School was alive with colour, flavour, and community spirit last week as students and staff came together to celebrate Culture Day — a joyful event dedicated to recognising and embracing the rich cultural diversity within the school.

One of the standout highlights of the day was a talent show inspired by Britain’s Got Talent, where students took to the stage to showcase an impressive range of talents and skills. From singing and dancing to comedy and magic, the performances were met with cheers and applause from an enthusiastic audience.

Adding to the excitement, the school -  a member of GLF Schools - hosted a lively football match between England and The Rest of the World. Both teams played with passion, teamwork, and plenty of school spirit, with the match ending in a thrilling 9-5 victory for England. Supporters lined the sidelines, celebrating the players’ efforts in a game that perfectly captured the spirit of friendly competition.

Food was another major highlight as the canteen transformed into a series of international tasting stations. Students and staff enjoyed a mouthwatering selection of dishes, including Tunisian couscous, puttanesca, and a vibrant mix of African and Jamaican-style chicken, rice, mac and cheese, and coleslaw. Sweet options didn’t disappoint either, with a unique South African Mint Tart and a distinctive green cream soda drink proving firm favourites.

The festive atmosphere continued throughout the school with students proudly wearing cultural clothing representing their heritage and getting involved in traditional henna art. Vibrant, informative displays celebrated a wide range of cultures and countries, giving everyone a chance to learn, share, and connect.

Reflecting on the day, staff and students agreed that Culture Day is a cherished event at Aureus School — a special opportunity for the whole community to come together, celebrate their differences, and take pride in the school’s rich diversity. The event was widely hailed as a huge success, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating the next opportunity to honour culture, community, and connection at Aureus.
