Data mining has led to a Didcot school being recognised as one to the top performing in the country by an award based on statistics from the previous academic year. The Edurio Awards celebrate excellence in targeted areas and use statistics from national data to highlight the best in the country.
Aureus, a member of GLF Schools Multi Academy Trust, received an award for Listening and Acting (parent feedback) which means it is one of the best in the country for that category. “As a school that prides itself on serving our local community, it is so important to us that we truly listen to all our stakeholders - our staff, our students and our families. Working together in genuine partnership helps us to create the best possible opportunities and improve life chances for every young person. We are delighted to have been recognised nationally for our commitment to listening and acting on the feedback from our families, ” said Headteacher Kirsty Rogers. Edurio aims to offer clarity to leaders in education on issues which matter by using school surveys which highlight strengths and areas which could be improved. The organisation uses non-academic data to produce national analysis and insights and benchmarks. It makes national and regional awards each year in specific areas and they recognise outstanding achievement and promote best practice. Ms Rogers has also recently returned from the inaugural World Inclusion Congress which was held in Kazakhstan and saw a range of speakers from across the globe gather to discuss education. As a Smartphone Free Schools ambassador, Ms Rogers works in partnership with the Congress to promote the importance of keeping schools free of smartphones and she was asked to speak at the recent conference. The dangers of screen use on the mental health of children and young people was highlighted and she shared the impact of sharing a smartphone-free space. “The conversations, insights and shared experiences have given me plenty to reflect on, and even more motivation to keep driving inclusive practices in my own work and community,” she said. GLF Schools Multi Academy Trust has 43 schools catering for more than 19,000 young people aged from two to 19-years-old. They are across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex and the London Boroughs of Wandsworth and Croydon.
