.Buzz Lightyear rubbed shoulders with The Cat in the Hat while pirates chatted with crocodiles on Thursday when pupils and staff joined the fun to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the annual event.
“Our hall was full of so many incredible book characters with the children celebrating World Book Day 2017. Well done to the pupils and staff for all the amazing outfits, we hope that the children were inspired to pick up a book and read,” said head teacher John Williams. More than 50 members of staff and around 420 pupils all took part in the day and chose who they would like to be. The staff team included Mary Poppins and Shrek while the winners from each class included Thomas the Tank, a witch and a Crayola Crayon. Pupils were also able to take part in artwork sessions and story reading based on the characters they were dressed as. The event ensures young readers can share their love of characters featured in books and enjoy a day of dressing-up and fun all based on the reading theme.
