Any student of Aureus School who is a member of the cadet services for the RAF, Royal Navy or Army, along with members of the Scouts and Guides, has been allowed to wear their organisation’s uniform for today.
The haunting sound of a bugler playing Last Post in the quad, at the heart of the school, was heard in all classrooms and it was followed by a two minute silence observed by staff and students.
Members of the school’s student body joined members of the Senior Leadership Team to lay wreaths in the remembrance garden to mark the anniversary of the Armistice.
“Despite the current lockdown and difficulties with the pandemic, we were determined to take part in our own tribute to the fallen here at Aureus,” said Miss Carolyn Saul, Assistant Headteacher.
“It was really encouraging to see so many of our students in their uniforms, from whichever service they belong to and we are very proud of the way they wanted to mark Remembrance Day.”
Aureus School is a member of the multi-academy GLF group of schools which has more than 40 schools across five regions.
