There were celebrations today at De Stafford, part of Glyn Learning Foundation, as students collected their GCSE results.

The following students received a high proportion of the top grades; Fatima Elbasir, Sam Murphy, Josh Murphy, Leonor Pereira, Jessica Ankers, Liberty Thompson, Lottie Cooper-Beirne, Megan Thomas, Lucy Spurgin, Katie Conway and Ammon Read.

Jeremy Garner, Executive Headteacher, said: "We are extremely proud of all our students for displaying such maturity, resilience and fortitude during the unprecedented and uncertain times caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

"This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were informed by school-based assessments against a national standard and were quality assured via a robust and rigorous standardisation process by the exam boards.

"As a cohort, the Class of 2021 achieved an excellent set of GCSE results. It is only right that we acknowledge and recognise the hard work, commitment and perseverance that were essential ingredients to their success.

"Even though they were unable to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in formal examinations this summer, the students deserve enormous credit and should feel proud of their academic achievements."

Whilst rightly celebrating the fantastic achievements of the high attainers, the school was delighted with the progress made by all students from their different academic starting points. The following students deserve special recognition for the outstanding progress they made during their time with us; Ammon Read, Tyler Soar, Shara Richards, Lottie Cooper-Beirne, Ethan Jessamy, Liberty Thompson and Mia Hickey.

Jeff Place, Head of School, added: "The outcomes achieved do not happen by accident and are a testament to the dedication of the students as well as the excellent support and guidance provided by staff and parents/carers.

"The fact that the vast majority of de Stafford students leave with such positive outcomes is a reflection of the strong academic progress they have made in their time at the school.

"However, the year group contributed so much to the school community and we are just as proud of the way in which they have developed into highly aspirational and confident young adults, comfortable of their place in society and the positive contribution they can make to it."
