The new director of a West Sussex teaching hub has been working with the Department for Education to help shape the new landscape for professional training.
Angela Rodda has taken over as director at the West Sussex-based GLF Teaching School Hub (TSH) and says she is ‘excited about the new role the hubs have been given with the strategic role for Initial Teacher Training.’ Cuddington Croft Primary in Cheam enlisted some cutting-edge technology when a Year 5 pupil was forced to take several months off school due to serious illness.
To enable Alexia to continue her studies remotely, the school arranged for an AV1 robot to attend lessons in her place, allowing the youngster to join her classmates virtually. Staff and students at Cuddington Croft Primary had reason to celebrate when the latest SAT results revealed that the school ranked within the Top 10 in the county.
The Department for Education Performance Table for Key Stage 2 2023 SAT results showed that the school – which is part of the GLF Schools Multi-Academies Trust – was among the 10 highest performers out of 476 Surrey schools, according to the combined percentage of children attaining the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths. Young musicians from primary schools in Surrey and Croydon have played the stage at one of the world’s best-known London venues - the Royal Albert Hall.

A teenager from Ewell has been celebrating after his first time representing Great Britain in this year’s BMX World Championships. Hugo Moon, 15, competed against 200 riders in his age category at the event, which took place in Glasgow. The annual competition saw 3,000 riders from some 50 countries take part, with each competing in three races, or Motos, to secure a coveted top-four place in the final. Floreat Wandsworth, a member of GLF Schools multi-academy trust, remains a ‘good’ school after a recent visit, but it could have been ‘outstanding’ if a full inspection was carried out, the report said when it was published this week. Staff and students at Aureus School were celebrating after the Class of 2023 achieved some outstanding GCSE results, with 42 per cent gaining Grades 9 to 4 and 4 per cent Grades 9 to 7. A fifth of all English results (20 per cent) at the Didcot school were graded between 9 and 7, along with over a quarter (27 per cent) of all Biology grades. |
