There were stripes and spectacles galore among the staff and children as the popular character was brought to life to join other familiar faces from the literary world.
Harry Potter was spotted sharing a joke with Bananaman while princesses and Dr Seuss joined pupils for a variety of activities, including making picture books and taking part in a special book day quiz.
Teachers were not left out of the fun as they shared their favourite books with pupils, and dressed-up for the day. There was even a parade around the school corridors so all the costumes could be shown-off in year groups.
The Where’s Wally hunt moved the action outside into the playground at the school which is part of the Surrey-based GLF Schools multi-academy trust.
“Teachers and pupils had a fantastic day and the costumes were great. Everyone put a lot of effort into World Book Day which is a good way to encourage a love of reading which will last a lifetime,” said class teacher and event organiser Rachel Allen.
