A raft of challenges have been set by headteacher Scott Maclean (doing his best Lord Sugar!) and each year group at Cuddington Croft Primary School has been given £1 per child to create a Christmas product to sell at the Enterprise Fair.
All the year groups have been tasked with tracking their own spending, designing marketing products and they must take into account the cost of advertising space in the school newsletter and using social media. Pupils are also learning about pricing and sales strategies - so it’s no ordinary Christmas fair.
Fortunately no-one has been fired from the project so far and pupils have been working hard on their projects with everything from salt dough decorations to reindeer hot chocolate and hand-crafted gift tags.
“We have a truly innovative group of young people working on this and everyone at the school has been impressed with the enthusiasm that the pupils have shown throughout. They have come up with some fantastic ideas and really grasped the challenges,” said head teacher Scott Maclean.
Year 6 have been separated into different departments for the production of their tree decorations, with a finance team, design team and human resources department while Year 4 have created an advertising song. The pupils in Year 3 have made reindeer hot chocolate while the reception children have been working on their salt dough decorations.
All the products were sold at a fair on Friday held at the school, a member of the multi academy GLF Trust, and the winning year group will get to keep their profits and throw a class party after the Christmas holidays.
