The 46-strong cast performed an exclusive preview for the group of younger children ahead of the official opening night of the popular musical.
“The students were incredible and should be extremely proud of themselves. It was an absolute pleasure to watch such an accomplished performance. It was a slick, professional production and a huge amount of work went into the staging of Annie. I must extend my thanks to all the staff, students and volunteers that were involved,” said headteacher Jeremy Garner.
Annie is set in New York City in 1930 and tells the story of a young orphan, played by Caitlin Etheridge, and her beloved dog Sandy, (Odie Etheridge.) The pair endure a life of misery at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage but Annie is determined to find her parents.
Grace Farrell (Katie Wickman) invites Annie to spend Christmas at the home of billionaire Oliver Warbucks (Darcy Baimoh). But Miss Hannigan (Amie Wickman) and her brother Rooster (Jake Westman) along with his girlfriend Lily St Regis (Millie Bonas) have other ideas and hatch a plan.
Annie features popular songs including It’s a Hard Knock Life, Tomorrow and Easy Street and the de Stafford School cast had rehearsed hard over many hours to ensure the show was a great success when it opened on March 16.
